Chopstick food, chopstick dining

Am I the only one who thinks forks are messier than chopsticks?

Question by : Am I the only one who thinks forks are messier than chopsticks?
I learnt how to use chopsticks, but I find that I make much less of a mess when I use chopsticks to eat Chinese food, rather than a fork.

Am I the only who thinks that?

  1. Well, since you’re used to eating with chopsticks, it makes sense that you’d do it more neatly. I learned how to eat with a fork, so I don’t make a mess when I do. However, I can also use chopsticks competently, so I don’t make a mess that way, either. 🙂

  2. I’ve been using both from a very young age (westerner who grew up in asia) and i find that when i eat chinese food/noodles i much prefer chop sticks and yes far less messy than with a fork.

I would also like to point out that in other asian countries where it is customary to eat with a spoon and a fork people use the fork to push food onto the spoon and the spoon goes into the mouth which is also less messier than just using a fork.

  3. I’m able to use both, and yes, I find that chopsticks are more efficient – they can pick up even a grain of rice.
